The San Francisco Giants originated in New York in 1883 under the name of the "Gothams" for their first few seasons until the name was changed to the "Giants in 1885. The Giants moved in 1958 to Seal Stadium in San Francisco. In their first year in San Francisco, they finished in third place due to Rookie of the Year winner first baseman Orlando "Baby Bull" Cepeda and Hall-of-Famer Willie Mays. Over the years, they have been home to many controversial superstars, the first of which was Willie Mays and, most recently, Barry Bonds. Willie Mays was considered "New York's star" and did not garner much fan support. Barry Bonds, despite his success at the plate, lost most of his fan support when allegations of illegal substance use were confirmed. The Giants currently play in the new AT&T Park, built in 2000.
